Tricks to adopt to keep the underwears clean during periods include using baking soda, cold running water & soap, hydrogen peroxide powder and baking soda paste.

• Using cold water to rinse off the stain

One should keep the stained underwear under cold running water so that the force of the water dissolves and washes the blood. Keep the stained area immersed in cold water so that the pressure of the water comes directly on it and the stain gets washed off. After having washed the marks, use a bar of hand soap to clean the remaining marks and continue with the process until the stain vanishes. Soaking the underwear for some time in the water will also help.

• Use Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean stubborn stains from light-colored panties. Use a white cloth and dip it hydrogen peroxide and dab it on the stained area of the underwear. After rubbing hydrogen peroxide on the stained underwear, rinse the underwear with water and then put it in the washing machine. Instead of hydrogen peroxide, one can also use lemon juice to remove the stain. It is not suggested to use hydrogen peroxide on dark coloured panties since doing that can make the colour dull.

• Rub salt to clean the stain

Make a salty solution with two parts cold water and one part salt in a basin and use it to rub on the stained area gently. Rub the stained area gently to remove the stain and then rinse it under the cold water to and later allow it to dry. Using saline eye drops or contact lens solution when you cannot arrange for a saline solution is also recommended for cleaning the stains.

• Use baking soda

Make a paste using baking soda and water and apply it on the affected area of the panties. Allow the paste to sit on the stained area for some time and then put it in the washing machine for regular washing.

• Wear period underwears

Period panties are specifically designed to absorb the period blood and are leak-resistant in nature. One can just pack a few period underwear while going out for a trip to prevent the clothes from getting stained. Period panties have a built-in pad to absorb the blood.

In addition to the above points, choosing the right menstrual pad is also important. Nowadays, sanitary pads are available in various sizes with extra-ordinary absorption capabilities. Purchase sanitary pads online to know about the variety available and compare the products. Cool sanitary napkins are also available which provide a cooling effect during summers and prevent irritation on the skin. Extra-large sanitary pads are good at absorbing the menstrual flow and prevent staining and leakage.
